UPDATE: Harrisburg police standoff ends peacefully with man down from roof

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — A standoff incident near the corner of Briggs St & N 15th St in Harrisburg has ended nearly five hours after authorities arrived. Dispatchers say the incident started Tuesday around 6:30 a.m. when police responded to an adult male potentially having a mental health episode.

Facebook live video from what appeared to be the man, provided an inside look into the incident as police attempted to persuade a peaceful ending.

Around 10:30 a.m., the suspect was pictured on the roof after police allegedly made an attempt to kick in a door to the residence. Approximately half an hour later, police say contact was made with the male and the appropriate services were provided for his care.

Authorities add that travel will return to an unrestricted state, with the exception of nearby construction.
