Louisiana middle school to remain closed Tuesday after fire
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Authorities say a Louisiana middle school will be closed Tuesday as crews repair damage from a fire.
Monday’s fire was sparked by a transformer at Westdale Middle School in Baton Rouge, WBRZ-TV reported.
The blaze cut classes short when it started Monday morning, and the campus will remain closed through Tuesday.
When the transformer blew, sparks caused a fire to erupt inside a self-contained energy closet in the school’s gymnasium, the East Baton Rouge school system said. That caused a power outage and prompted Monday’s early dismissal.
Power crews were expected to work on the issue Tuesday.
