If the Michigan high school playoffs ended after the fourth week, 17 Saginaw-area football programs would qualify among the top 32 teams in their divisions, including one that would own the No. 1 seed in its division.

According to the Michigan High School Athletic Association playoff points standings, Mount Pleasant owns the No. 1 seed in Division 3 after Week 4, sporting a 4-0 record after a 33-10 win over Midland Dow. The Oilers have 62.000 points, with Allen Park second with 61.750.

In Division 2, Roseville owns the No. 1 seed with 66.750, but three Saginaw-area teams would qualify with 2-2 records – Midland Dow at 24 (40.250), Saginaw Heritage at 27 (36.500) and Midland High at 29 (35.000).

Freeland’s win over Essexville Garber leaves the Falcons at No. 8 in the Division 4 playoff rankings with 49.750 points, while Chelsea holds down the No. 1 spot with 61.250. Alma, 2-2, would slip in at No. 30 with 30.500.

Four Saginaw-area teams would qualify in Division 5, with Frankenmuth at No. 5 with 51.750 points. Grand Rapids Catholic Central is No. 1 with 58.150 points. Other Saginaw-area qualifiers are No. 18 Carrollton (33.000), No. 30 Birch Run (26.750) and No. 31 Bullock Creek (26.500).

Millington, at No. 12, and Chesaning, at No. 19, would qualify in Division 6 behind No. 1 Lansing Catholic Central, with No. 13 Reese and No. 21 St. Louis qualifying in Division 7. In Division 7, Hemlock and Ithaca are both a few points out of the playoffs, with Hemlock at No. 34 (21.500) and Ithaca at No. 35 (21.250).

In Division 8, Hudson is the No. 1 seed with 41.250 points. No. 19 Vassar (23.000), No. 27 Michigan Lutheran Seminary (18.500) and No. 29 Breckenridge (17.750) would also qualify. Close, but just missing out after four weeks, are Coleman and Saginaw Nouvel, both ranked 36th with 14.000 points.
