PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Police have taken a woman into custody after several businesses were vandalized early Tuesday morning on High Street in Olde Towne Portsmouth.
Portsmouth police said they responded around 4:15 a.m. and found the damage from Green Street to Effingham Street.
Three businesses had broken windows on the 500 and 600 blocks of High Street and flower beds were torn up at Towne Bank and several planters were smashed.
In an update Tuesday night, police said they had taken a 25-year-old woman into custody.
The detective had been in contact with behavioral health. The woman will not be charged until an evaluation has been completed and after consulting the commonwealth attorney’s office.
