In the early hours of the morning Tuesday, a gunman shot dead a woman, a passenger in her car and then himself in a domestic violence incident outside of a Wendy’s restaurant, Hallandale Beach Police said.

Officers received a call at 12:48 a.m. stating that an argument had escalated to shots fired near the fast food drive-thru, according to Capt. Megan Jones, who held a brief news conference at the scene.

Jones said officers arrived to find three victims with gunshot wounds in the Wendy’s parking lot, located at 1091 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd., just east of Interstate 95. Jones said they were “unresponsive and now deceased.”

Two of the dead were in an on-and-off relationship for the past two years and ended the relationship recently because of his violent outbursts, police said in a release.

A deadly triple shooting took place in a Wendy's parking lot, near the drive-thru, at 1091 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd, early Tuesday.

When the man found his ex at the Wendy’s, he drove his car into hers as she was getting food from the drive-thru, police said. When she reversed to get away, the man got out of his car and fired a handgun at her car multiple times.

The woman and a passenger in her car died from gunshot wounds, the department said. The man was found near the woman’s car, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police did not release the names of the victims, citing Florida’s 2018 Marsy’s Law, a voter-approved constitutional amendment that allows crime victims to shield their name and personal information from the public.

The gunman’s name has not yet been released, pending the notification of his next of kin, police said.
