Council Bluffs man arrested after pursuit in Clear Lake

CLEAR LAKE — A Council Bluffs man was arrested in Clear Lake over the weekend after a high speed chase.

The Clear Lake Police Department says they received a 9-1-1 call from 24-year-old Evac Cave at about 10:30 Saturday night. Officers were dispatched to attempt to make contact with him after he was reported to be speaking erratically and making incoherent statements.

They found his vehicle in the area of North Shore Drive and Clark Road at about 10:50 PM, with a pursuit ensuing after an attempted traffic stop. Cave drove through stop sticks deployed by a sheriff’s deputy at 235th and Dogwood, but continued to drive on three deflated tires. Cave finally pulled over just south of the intersection of 230th and Balsam and was taken into custody after several minutes of negotiations.

Cave was charged with operating while intoxicated, possession of drug paraphernalia and multiple traffic violations and was booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail where he remains on $5000 cash only bond.
