Georgia police searching for woman accused of throwing puppy into ocean

TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. — UPDATE: Marban has been arrested and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals.

Police are searching for a woman with metro Atlanta ties who is accused of throwing a puppy into the ocean.

Candy Selena Marban is wanted on aggravated cruelty to animals felony charges.

Tybee Island police said they received calls about a person throwing an injured puppy in the area of South Beach. Marban was the puppy’s owner.

Police said Marban told officers the dog had been injured a week before and she did not have money for the puppy’s medical care. Police took the puppy into their custody and cited Marban for cruelty to animals.

Officers took the puppy to an emergency veterinarian in Savannah. The veterinarian said the puppy’s injuries were too severe and had to euthanize the animal.

Police issued a warrant for Marban on felony aggravated cruelty to animals.

Marban is believed to have ties to metro Atlanta. Tybee Island police said they are in contact with Gainesville law enforcement and also police in Savannah.

“New information suggests that she may be in the Savannah area, but she could be anywhere. Please continue to share this post so that we can bring justice to this case,” police said on Facebook.
