Two commercial buildings are proposed behind the Coastal Carolina Car Wash in Castle Hayne.

The owners of a car wash in Castle Hayne are looking to add two new commercial buildings to their land in order to start a business park.

The buildings, which total 11,000 feet of commercial space, are proposed behind the Coastal Carolina Car Wash at 6100 Castle Hayne Road, according to a community notice about the development.

Site plans show two proposed buildings of "flex" commercial units. Flex commercial units are a hybrid of office and warehouse space. One building will include 4,000 square feet while the other is slated for 7,000 square feet, according to site plans. The buildings are referred to as the Coastal Carolina Business Park in the community notice.

The proposed development will require the approval of a conditional zoning district by New Hanover County. A conditional zoning district means that only the uses, structures and layout outlined in the approved proposal could be developed on the site.

The nearly 1.5 acre parcel of land is currently zoned as a B-2 business district. The land is currently owned by Coastal Carolina Car Wash, LLC, according to New Hanover County property records.

A community meeting will be held on Wednesday to discuss details of the project and its impact. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at Shelter #2 at Northern Regional Park.

Community meetings are held typically held by the developer before an official project application has been submitted to the New Hanover County Planning and Land Use Department.

The project has not been scheduled for consideration by the New Hanover County Planning Board.
