Riverfront Parkway access to be restricted for several weeks

Due to Eugene Water and Electric Board utility work, a section of Riverfront Parkway on campus near the Willamette River will be closed to vehicle traffic starting Sept. 20.

While the eastern half of Riverfront Parkway will be completely closed, the west side of the roadway will remain open to allow pedestrian and bicycle traffic through for the duration of the project. EWEB will use cones, barricades and, at times, flaggers to delineate the closed area.

The section of the parkway that will be restricted runs from Millrace Drive north towards the Frohnmayer Footbridge, also known as the Autzen Footbridge. The path is popular with pedestrians and cyclists and is heavily used by fans traveling across the river to Autzen Stadium for Duck football home games.

EWEB is installing a new waterline and expects the restriction to last approximately one month. For issues or questions about the work, contact UO engineer/inspector Dan Morehouse at 541-346-7988.
