The Golden State Warriors recently shared that star guard Klay Thompson will mark his return in the 2021-22 NBA season. Thompson will participate in controlled drills during the training camp, though the team has not disclosed an exact date of his return.

Whatever the case may be, Warriors fans have several reasons to be delighted. As we speak, they might be fantasizing about all of the things Thompson might do in his return. To help you Dubs  fans out, here are our three bold predictions for Klay Thompson's return in the upcoming campaign.

3. Klay Thompson will finish top three in 3-pointers

When the Warriors won three titles in five years from 2014 to 2019, Thompson usually finished second place in 3-point field goals made behind none other than Stephen Curry. His numbers dwindled a little bit, specifically in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons where he finished fifth and sixth, respectively. Either way, this is a very impressive milestone by Thompson. It's also the reason why he's called one of the greatest shooters of all time.

In his return, we should expect nothing less from the Splash Brother. There will be understandable doubts about his athleticism and movement after his injuries and the fact that he missed two whole years. However, Thompson's game never really hinged so much on his athletic gifts. Warriors fans know that he doesn't even need to dribble the ball. Thompson's off-ball movement is unparalleled. The fact that Steve Kerr's offensive sets are customized to fit his style makes him even more lethal.

2. Klay Will Deliver Another Scoring Feat

Among the many scoring feats of Thompson, perhaps his 60-point game in just three quarters was the most memorable. You can argue that the legendary Kobe Bryant has done a similar feat. What makes Thompson's accomplishment different is that he dropped a 60-piece on just 11 dribbles. Thompson will deliver another scoring feat like this one. Perhaps 60 points in three quarters in less than 11 dribbles? Maybe a 70-point game? Maybe break his own record of 14 3-pointers in a game? Who knows?

Thompson has a history of bouncing back after a bad game or after a rough streak. Teammates say that he's the type of guy who doesn't speak much. He lets his game do the talking for him. With this in mind, Warriors fans (and haters) should keep their eyes locked on the other half of the Splash Bros. Whenever he's on the floor, a record is bound to be set or broken.

1. Warriors will make the playoffs as the fourth of fifth seed

Fans and analysts deemed that the 2020-21 NBA season was bound to be the Warriors' comeback season. It was in large part due to Thompson's return from the ACL injury he suffered in the 2019 NBA Finals. However, weeks before it started, Klay suffered an Achilles injury that caused him to miss another year.

As expected, the Warriors weren't as good without Thompson in the fold. Stephen Curry can only do so much carrying. What made things extra difficult was that the Dubs were experimenting with their new players. They were still searching for their identity as a team.

Thompson's return won't immediately give the Warriors a whole identity. But it will surely boost the progress. As such, Warriors fans should expect the team to finish somewhere in the middle of the Western Conference standings. Thompson's presence will take a load off Curry. Draymond Green will be more comfortable in orchestrating plays as well. The same goes with Steve Kerr, who will have the confidence in running new and old playsets with a player he's familiar with.
