Clemson defensive tackle Tyler Davis discovered after Saturday's game against Georgia Tech that he had suffered a torn bicep.

Clemson starting defensive tackle Tyler Davis will have surgery this week on a torn bicep tendon and is expected to miss at least two months.

Tigers coach Dabo Swinney broke the news Monday night on his weekly call-in show. Davis suffered the injury Saturday in the 14-8 victory against Georgia Tech at Memorial Stadium

"He played the entire game," Swinney said. "He played all the way to the last play. After the game, he finds out that the bicep tendon is torn."

Davis was second-team All-ACC in 2019 but had an injury-plagued 2020 and played only seven games. He missed the first game of this season, a 10-3 loss to Georgia, because of COVID protocol.

In his place, the Tigers will be expected to move either sophomore Ruke Orhorhoro or freshman Tre Williams into a starting role alongside sophomore Bryan Bresee.

"We hope to get Davis back for the stretch run at the end of the season," Swinney said.

Seventh-ranked Clemson (2-1) plays 3:30 p.m. Saturday (ESPN) at North Carolina State (2-1).
