Kent State opens the 2021-22 men's basketball season Nov. 12 at Xavier
A season opener at Xavier and a December visit to West Virginia highlight the 2021-22 Kent State men's basketball schedule, which was released on Monday.
The Golden Flashes will open the new season on November 12 by visiting the Musketeers. Kent State's lone road trip of December will be to Morgantown to face the Mountaineers on the 12th. KSU head coach Rob Senderoff earned his first victory as a head coach when the Flashes won at West Virginia on Nov. 5, 2011.
Kent State will play its home opener against Oberlin on Nov. 16. The Flashes will then take part in the inaugural Naples Invitational, a three-game, eight-team tournament in Florida. Kent State will open against James Madison on Nov. 22, then will play either Wright State or George Washington the following day. A final game in Naples is set for Nov. 24.
Following a holiday break, the Flashes return home on Nov. 30 to take on Point Park. Towson will visit Kent State on Dec. 6, followed by Detroit Mercy on Dec. 9. Southern will visit the M.A.C. Center on Dec. 19, then the Flashes will close out the non-conference season by hosting Cleveland State on Dec. 21.
Mid-American Conference play opens on Dec. 28, when Kent State hosts Central Michigan. The Flashes will start the new year by hosting Toledo on Jan. 1. Dates with rival Akron are set for Jan. 15 in Kent and Feb. 12 in Akron. The regular season concludes on March 4, when Kent State hosts Buffalo.
