A new expert projection for Michigan football means there is another candidate to be the Wolverines next commitment?

Michigan football has momentum on the playing field following three straight blowout wins over Western Michigan, Washington, and Northern Illinois.

The Wolverines also have some momentum on the recruiting trail. Last week, they flipped the commitment of Mason Graham, a defensive lineman who has dominated so far this season out in California and looks much better than his three-star ranking.

That being said, Michigan is poised to win a number of other recruitments and it’s worth asking who’s going to be next to join the 2022 class?

Well, one name Michigan football fans should be aware of is that of three-star linebacker Deuce Spurlock. He’s an inside linebacker and he’s been on the radar before.

Could Spurlock be Michigan’s next commit?

Spurlock wasn’t talked about as much recently, but EJ Holland, the Michigan recruiting expert for Rivals, put in a Futurecast pick for him to land at Michigan just this week.

Holland put in a pick for Spurlock and then changed it to Mississippi State which has been one of the top contenders for Spurlock, along with some others in the SEC.

But Holland has now changed that pick back to Michigan and the only crystal ball projection right now for Spurlock is from Steve Lorenz of The Michigan Insider and is also pointing towards the Wolverines.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound linebacker according to 247 sports, is ranked 1,248th overall in the 247 sports composite rankings. He’s out of the state of Alabama.

Yet, he’s starting to get a little more attention. He took an unofficial visit to Auburn last weekend and was offered by Vanderbilt.

Michigan football has been looking to add another linebacker and Lander Barton, a four-star recruit out of Utah, has been the top target. He visited for the Washington game, but the Utes have a lot of built-in advantages, not to mention he’s an in-state recruit for the Utes.

Jim Harbaugh and the staff have tried with Barton. Harbaugh jumped on a plane and saw him once the dead period was lifted and the Wolverines did get him on campus.

But this projection of Spurlock to Michigan football, can’t be good news for Barton, which is understandable, because it always seemed like a longshot.

Fans might scoff at the ranking of Spurlock, but he’s definitely got upside and Holland reported he could be deciding soon, so watch out.
