DeFuniak Springs man steals SUV, crashes into tree on U.S. 90 in Crestview
Sierra RainsCRESTVIEW — Charges are expected to be filed against the driver of a stolen SUV after he reportedly crashed into a tree Thursday off U.S. Highway 90.
An owner of a local auto shop reported that a white Chevrolet SUV had been stolen from the shop Thursday afternoon, according to a Walton County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post.

Michael Cummins, 49, of DeFuniak Springs, was reportedly found behind the wheel of the vehicle after he crashed it in Okaloosa County.
The crash occurred about 2:10 p.m. on the north side of U.S. 90 east of Carousel Lane near Crestview, according to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol.
Cummins reportedly traveled off the road and struck multiple traffic hazard signs before crossing back over both lanes and traveling into the woods. The vehicle sustained disabling damage when it collided with a large tree.
Cummins was administered NARCAN for an apparent drug overdose and taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center to be treated for injuries, FHP reported.
Troopers also administered a breath test in which Cummins reportedly blew over the legal 0.08 limit. The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and FHP investigated the crash.
Charges for DUI, leaving the scene with property damage and grand theft auto are pending.
