Police: Woman lifts young boy from Clermont County playground
A 38-year-old woman has been arrested, accused of trying to abduct a 4-year-old boy from a Clermont County playground. It happened Sept. 15 at a playground in the 600 block of University Lane in Batavia Township. Crystal Harrison, 38, was arrested and charged with abduction. According to a police report, Harrison allegedly grabbed a 4-year-old child from a swing and carried that child over to a stroller which she owned. That child was apparently able to run away, police said, and told other children at the playground what happened. Harrison is not the child's mother. It is unclear if she has any relation to the child. Authorities say the children on the playground then began to yell at Harrison, who then walked away. Authorities said they were able to make contact with Harrison, who denied any of it took place. But, according to a complaint, surveillance video in the area backs the child's story, showing a woman lift the child from a swing and "carrying the child like a baby" to her stroller. Harrison was arrested and taken to Clermont Mercy Hospital for an evaluation, officials said. Harrison was then taken to Clermont County Jail.
