Meet the 2021 Class of Associated General Contractors 40 Under 40

Meet the Alabama AGC 40 Under 40 Class of 2021, featured in the September 2021 issue of Business Alabama magazine.

Jaime Andress, 39

Director of human resources for Caddell Construction, Jaime Andress joined the company in 2018 as the training and development manager. In that role, she was instrumental in launching a company-wide learning management system and revamped the employee intranet. Less than a year later, she was promoted to her current role, where she has overseen the hiring of 239 personnel worldwide. She also contributes to the company’s strategic planning committee, communicating with employees, clients and strategic partners. Outside the office, Andress volunteers with area nonprofits, including Alabama Regional Library for the Blind, the Montgomery Area Food Bank, Salvation Army, Angel Tree and others. She is also active in AGC’s HRTED steering committee and was a presenter at the 2020 LEAP HR: Construction Conference. 

Chase Boyce, 32

Chase Boyce is a project manager with Crucible Construction. A graduate of Auburn University, he has 10 years of experience in both commercial and industrial construction. He has successfully completed projects in various regions of the country and understands the importance of delivering safe projects on time, under budget and with the highest quality. His team members say he excels at building relationships. 

 

 

John Bush, 39

As vice president of operations for McElhenney Construction Co. LLC, John Bush provides oversight of all field operations, management, direction of superintendents, foremen and all field employees. He also ensures that all company resources are efficiently and professionally managed on all projects, performing the work within the budget and ahead of schedule for the customer. With more than 15 years of experience, Bush has worked in almost all aspects of construction. When not on the job, Bush enjoys several outdoor activities with his family. 

David Callaway, 35

David Callaway is senior project manager with Brasfield & Gorrie, managing projects for the company’s Healthcare division. For the past two years, he has overseen five strategic projects in Arizona worth a combined total of approximately $85 million. As the five Arizona projects come to completion, Callaway will assume a leadership role in an upcoming multi-year project at UAB Medical West. A graduate of Auburn University, Callaway has continued his professional development by earning the OSHA 30-hour Construction Certification and the ASHE Healthcare Construction Certification. He is also an active participant in Brasfield & Gorrie’s Infection Control Education committee and the Quality Control Program committee. Outside of work, he volunteers with United Way of Central Alabama, Ronald McDonald House and the March of Dimes, as well as being active in his church and a father of two. 

Jake Coker, 28

A native of Mobile, Jake Coker is a graduate of Florida State University, where he earned his degree in public administration, and the University of Alabama, where he earned his master’s in marketing. He played football with both college programs and upon graduation signed with the Arizona Cardinals. Upon moving back to Mobile, Coker worked for an industrial contractor for two years, before he joined the insurance industry with BXS Insurance, where he is a producer. During his three years with BXS, Coker has developed a strong satisfaction serving the construction industry with risk management products. Outside of work, Coker is active in Associated General Contractors, the Alabama A-Club and the Senior Bowl Ambassador Club.

Brian Collins, 39

Brian Collins began working at BL Harbert International in 2018 as the IT manager. His responsibilities include helping business operations groups and international site locations utilize informational systems to improve their efficiency, all while leading and directing other technology support staff. Collins was instrumental in setting up a multi-factor authentication and mobile device management system for the company. He was key to the company’s transition to work-from-home during the COVID-19 pandemic, tracking security issues and handling technical support requests that arose. Out of the office, Collins is a volunteer with M-Power Ministries, where he teaches a computer class for the Career Readiness Program. He also serves as a mentor to students at Oliver Elementary and coaches his children’s baseball teams. Collins is a University of Alabama graduate.

Brian Cooley, 30

Brian Cooley is project manager with S&ME Inc., a civil engineering firm. Cooley started his career in the construction materials testing and inspection area while attending the University of Alabama in Huntsville’s College of Engineering. After graduating in 2015, he began his professional career and moved quickly into project management with the Construction Services and Geotechnical Engineering areas of S&ME. He earned his professional engineering license in 2019 and maintains several certifications, including the project management certification from the Project Management Institute. Outside of work, Cooley serves as an officer with the Associated General Contractors North Alabama Construction Leadership Council and is active with the Associated Builders & Contractors North Alabama Emerging Leaders and American Society of Civil Engineers. 

Wright Cox, 29

Wright Cox is a senior project manager with Persons Services Corp. Despite his short time in the construction industry, Cox has become a valuable leader, recognizing that the better he serves as a leader and manager, the better the opportunity for the job and those involved to succeed. He keeps a service-minded approach when dealing with co-workers, whether they are an upper-level executive, a client, a subcontractor or a laborer. A University of Tennessee-Knoxville graduate, Cox is involved with the Mobile chapter of the Associated General Contractors, the Downtown Alliance of Mobile, the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce and the Mobile chapter of the Construction Leadership Council. 

Michael Davis, 31

Michael Davis is a project engineer with Thompson Engineering. He currently serves as the geotechnical lead for Alabama Department of Transportation projects. His project experience includes the laboratory and fieldwork portions of the Mobile River Bridge geotechnical contract, dozens of bridge replacement projects and hundreds of light pole evaluations throughout the state. Additionally, he led Thompson’s field efforts in its largest offshore drilling project to date, a $1.3 million offshore geotechnical survey for construction of a new pipeline in the Gulf of Mexico. An effective communicator, Davis mentors geotechnical engineering interns, helping to prepare them for a role in the construction field. He serves on the company’s Team Health and Thompson Foundation committees. Outside of the office, Davis volunteers with Feeding the Gulf Coast, the American Cancer Society, the University of South Alabama’s Science and Engineering Fair and is a member of the ASCE. 

Josh Davison, 37

Josh Davison is sales manager for Davison Fuel & Oil, which supplies petroleum products to several construction companies. Davison is an Auburn University graduate, where he studied in the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences. He has 15 years of experience providing petroleum products and excellent service. Outside of the office, Davison has volunteered with the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home, Women’s Resource Center and Sonrise Ministries Uganda. 

Patrick Donohoe, 35

With more than 15 years of experience, Pat Donohoe serves as vice president of field operations for Rabren General Contractors LP. In this role, he leads a team of superintendents on multiple projects, ensuring that he knows the ins and outs of a project so he can be a resource for advice in scheduling, budgeting, staffing and more. In addition to this role, he also serves as a member of the company’s safety leadership team, working as a liaison between the safety department and the field teams to provide input on real world safety concerns so that the teams onsite can remain safe. 

Watson Downs, 30

A Dothan native, Watson Downs is the managing member of a family-owned investment and real estate development company, Watson & Downs Investments. He also is a partner in Engineered Systems Inc., a general contractor specializing in design/build commercial and industrial construction. Since 2012, Downs has spent his time between the two companies, pursuing new development opportunities in the Wiregrass area. A graduate of Auburn University, Downs also is a registered professional engineer in Alabama. Outside of work, Downs is on several boards, including ServisFirst Bank of Dothan, Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center, Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce, Dothan Tuesday Rotary Club and serves as chairman of the Flowers Hospital Young Professional Board. 

Colton Edwards, 26

Colton Edwards is head estimator for Pate Landscape Co. Inc. A graduate of Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Edwards is often the first person a client speaks with when they contact the company about a project. Edwards joined the Pate team earlier this year but has already set himself apart with his professionalism and leadership. Outside of work, Edwards has worked with and supported Make a Wish Foundation and the YMCA.  

Jackson Fite, 25

Jackson Fite is project manager with Fite Building Co. A graduate of Auburn University, Fite worked for Brasfield & Gorrie from 2018 to 2020 on several projects in preconstruction and in their Atlanta health care division. He then joined Fite Building Co. in October 2020, as a project manager, where he is currently heading up several commercial projects in Huntsville. He also is assisting in preconstruction efforts. He serves on the company’s Fite Plus One committee, a company initiative that gives back to their employees’
communities. Fite is involved with the Local Emerging Leaders program. 

Greg Foreman, 39

Greg Foreman is operations manager with Midsouth Paving Inc., a CRH Company. He served as a project manager on multiple site and highway construction projects for more than five years before becoming operations manager. As operations manager, he has managed multiple project managers and construction crews for 10 years. Foreman is a graduate engineer and looks for innovative ways to construct various phases and activities of a project. On the job site, he emphasizes high quality work and the importance of meeting customers’ expectations, garnering the respect of designers, inspectors and owners alike. 

Scott Grissom, 32

Scott Grissom has worked with Russell Construction of Alabama Inc. for 10 years, working his way up the ranks to lead estimator. He works diligently and has helped others to better understand the construction estimating process. He estimates all types of construction and is the company’s most trusted estimator for the extremely complicated projects, especially in the large commercial and healthcare-related fields. A hands-on personality, he often visits the field to learn more about a project and to coordinate with project managers. 

John Hanson, 34

John Hanson is a senior project manager with BL Harbert International. A graduate of Auburn University with a degree in building science, Hanson has worked with BL Harbert for more than six years. Hanson started at the company as an assistant project manager and was promoted to project manager and then senior project manager. He has served on several big projects throughout Birmingham. He also has worked with Camp Smile a Mile and Mitchell’s Place on projects for their facilities. He is also active with the Alabama chapter of Associated General Contractors, attending monthly meetings and the annual convention.  

Mindy Harris, 34

Mindy Harris serves as a project manager with Robert F Henry Tile. A loyal, hardworking employee, she often works in the field with her team to problem solve. Her work on multiple projects has proven that she is dependable and trustworthy. She also enjoys learning about new innovations. Harris supports the industry through her work as president of the Birmingham chapter of National Association of Women In Construction, where her outgoing personality has made her a friend to many. 

Wallace Harvey, 30

Wallace Harvey is an estimator and project manager with H. O. Weaver and Sons Inc. A graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in building construction science, Harvey has worked with H. O. Weaver and Sons for more than seven years. He has estimated and managed numerous roadway and civil sitework projects, including the Airbus Final Assembly Line Facility in Mobile. He also is involved in several organizations including Associated General Contractors, Mobile County Road Builders Association, Baldwin County Road Builders Association and Construction Leadership Council. In addition, he has volunteered annually at the SAWDC Worlds of Opportunity, a hands-on career expo to promote the construction industry to 10,000 eighth-grade students across Southwest Alabama.  

Charles Hill, 38

In 2004, after Hurricane Ivan hit the Gulf Coast, Charles Hill started cleaning up at his home on Dauphin Island when he was asked by a neighbor if he could help them move sand, as well. As soon as he finished helping one neighbor, another appeared needing help and Hill’s business — Hill Brothers Inc. — was born. As the company grew, Hill started branching out into commercial jobs in Mobile and Baldwin counties. In 2018, Hill rented a small office in Daphne and hired an office staff to accommodate the growth. He then opened another company, C Hill Properties LLC, to manage his properties. In 2019, he acquired Earl Ryland’s Underground Services Inc. and decided to move Hill Brothers’ offices to Robertsdale. In 2020, despite COVID-19, Hill landed his company’s largest single contract ever — a joint venture sitework contract for Aldi Distribution Center in Loxley. When he isn’t running the three companies, Hill enjoys boating, relaxing at the beach or enjoying a concert with his family. 

Patrick Hollandsworth, 31

Patrick Hollandsworth has worked for six years as a concrete sales representative/account manager with Bama Concrete Products, covering the Shoals and Huntsville/Madison markets. He is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in concrete industry management. Hollandsworth also is active in Alabama Associated General Contractors for six years, during which he has served as an associate vice president and president. He and his wife, Kelsey, have two young sons. 

Jackson Ingram, 39

Jackson Ingram is a senior project manager at Marathon Electrical Contractors. He began his career before he graduated high school, working as a co-op student organizing materials in the warehouse and cleaning tools. After he graduated, he started working in the field, where he excelled and later became the youngest job manager at the company. Through years of hard work and successful projects, he became a project manager and was later promoted to senior project manager over the North Alabama division. In this role, he helps guide other project managers and assistant project managers. He also instructs an apprenticeship class to help students learn the electrical trade. 

Erin Jones, 40

A partner with Wilkins Miller, Erin Jones has more than 15 years’ experience in public accounting. A graduate of Spring Hill College with both bachelor’s and master’s degrees, Jones is responsible for client proposals, time budgets, staff scheduling and more for the firm. The firm serves more than 100 construction businesses, with Jones helping many of them navigate complex tax, accounting and consulting issues. She has been involved with Associated General Contractors for five years. She is a former president of the Mobile Chapter of the Alabama Society of CPAs, and currently serves on the Mulherin Custodial Home Board of Directors as treasurer and the United Way of Southwest Alabama Board as audit chair. 

Natalie Kelly, 38

A graduate of Auburn University, Natalie Kelly is director of corporate responsibility at Brasfield & Gorrie, where she leads sustainability, diversity and inclusion and community relations efforts. In 2019, she launched the EQUIP program to help enhance partnerships with small and diverse contractors by providing technical assistance to more than 100 firms. Before joining Brasfield, she founded and managed consulting firm SUSTAIN Strategy and Media Group. She is involved in a number of organizations including the Women’s Business Enterprise Council, the Kiwanis Club of Birmingham, Freshwater Land Trust and Jones Valley Teaching Farm. She is a graduate of Leadership Alabama, Leadership Birmingham and Leadership UAB. 

Daniel Lee, 30

Daniel Lee is a superintendent with Ben M. Radcliff Contractor Inc.  A graduate of Auburn University with a degree in building science, Lee has more than 10 years of construction experience, with the last four as a project superintendent. A conscientious professional, Lee works well with clients, planning ahead to resolve any potential problems that might arise on a project. He recently completed historical renovations of Alabama’s first public school, Barton Academy for Advanced World Studies in Mobile. 

Rachael Meigs, 31

Rachael Meigs is manager of client services with Doster Construction Co. She moved up within the company from an estimator to senior estimator and finally to her current position. In her role as manager of client services, Meigs is the representative interacting with the clients throughout a project’s multiple stages — from the conceptual budgeting to project closeout. She tracks the project status and provides assistance to project managers when necessary to keep a project on track. She often is juggling multiple projects in various stages of completion at the same time. She has been featured in Bham Now for Women in Construction week as a leader in her field. 

Austin Moon, 30

Austin Moon is the construction services manager with GTEC in Huntsville. A graduate of Grissom High School, Moon earned a degree in welding technology from J.F. Drake State Technical College. Over his career, Moon has worked as an AWS Certified Welding Inspector and an engineering technician in the construction engineering, inspection and testing field. He quickly moved into a senior engineering technician role and now serves as a construction services manager. In this role, Moon leads nine employees, while also serving as a project manager on several projects. Moon also has participated in several industry associations. 

Jimmy Morris Jr., 36

Manager of Morris Builders LLC, Jimmy Morris Jr. is a native of Prattville. As a manager, Morris oversees the day-to-day operations of the company. He uses integrated technology to help streamline connections to field operators, ensuring productivity and efficiency. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Alabama State University and an MBA from Columbia Southern. He also leads by example, encouraging each staff member to invest in their communities. He serves on several boards in the River Region, including volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. He also serves on the advisory board to Prattville Baptist Hospital, Alabama Hospital Association and Hope Credit Union. He also developed a mentoring program for young entrepreneurs and developed an outreach program to train young males in the construction field. 

Adam Muston, 39

An operations and sales manager with United Site Services, Adam Muston’s territory covers the Shoals, Huntsville and Mobile/Baldwin counties markets. A graduate of Austin Peay State University, Muston has worked as an area manager for three years, overseeing the full operations, which includes 50 trucks daily servicing portable toilets, roll-off dumpsters and temporary fencing needs of contractors, industrial sites and home builders in Alabama. During his three years with the company, the team has achieved double digit revenue and EBITDA growth for each quarter. In addition to his work duties, Muston is active with the Alabama Chapter of Associated General Contractors and is on the board of the Shoals Homebuilders Association.

Wes Northington, 33

An Auburn University graduate, Wes Northington has worked with Marathon Electrical Contractors LLC for more than eight years. He has served as a project manager, senior project manager and is now the company’s Nashville Office division manager. In this role, he is attracting projects to the Nashville office, which could be the company’s largest office in the future. With 11 years of experience in the industry, Northington also is involved in Associated General Contractors,Associated Builders& Contractors and his church. 

Jamey Padget, 34

Jamey Padget has worked in the construction industry for 11 years since his graduation from Auburn University with a degree in building science. For the last six years, he has worked with Wiregrass Construction Co., where he serves as chief estimator for the Southern division. He has estimated and managed a wide variety of projects, both in the public and private arenas, involving asphalt paving, earthwork, concrete and more. In his time as chief estimator, he has expanded upon his existing skills to include a leadership role among other estimators, often reviewing bids, assigning projects and becoming the point of contact between several clients and the company. 

Taylor Renfroe, 31

Taylor Renfroe is a project manager with Asphalt Services in Spanish Fort. He joined the company after graduating from the University of Alabama in 2013. During the last eight years, he has managed and performed site development, infrastructure improvement and development and building construction for private developers and the Alabama Department of Transportation. He has been an integral part of building a solid workforce team with a reputation for high-quality work. He is active in Associated General Contractors and the Baldwin County Road Builders. 

Leighton Reynolds, 32

Leighton Reynolds is quality assurance manager at Bayou Concrete. He manages the company’s quality program, involving 13 plants in Alabama and Mississippi. He holds several ACI level certifications and is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University’s Concrete Industry Management Program. He is a member of the MMC Materials & Bayou Concrete QC/QA committee and played an integral role in getting the company’s lab CMEC certified, allowing the company to design and test mixes for its three divisions. With a strong work ethic, Reynolds was chosen as a member of the Developing Industry Leaders group of the National Ready Mix Concrete Association and also serves as a member of Dunn Universities IMPACT group, a peer group focused on identifying and development future leaders. 

Andrea Richardson, 37

Andrea Richardson is the full-time owner/operator of Royal Restoration LLC, a disaster restoration and general contractor founded in 2011 in Birmingham. She holds numerous industry certifications related to disaster relief and restoration with reciprocating status in numerous states. She is extremely passionate about disaster recovery, healthy buildings and the reconstruction process to help individuals and businesses recover after property loss. Royal Restoration primarily serves the central Alabama region and travels for catastrophic disaster relief throughout the Southern and Eastern Seaboard of the United States. 

Lindsey Smith, 37

Lindsey Smith is senior project manager with Donald H. Allen Development. She has more than 18 years of construction experience across all stages of project delivery. From business development and estimating to pre-construction and project management, her diverse experience allows her to assist on a project wherever needed. Smith is a team player, understanding that relationships are key to any successful project. She often works with subcontractors, owners and field supervisors to keep projects on time and within budget. Since her arrival at Donald H. Allen Development in December 2020, she has worked estimating and in project management on projects ranging from $200,000 to $12 million. 

Boone Snider, 35

Boone Snider is a senior project manager with Caddell Construction of Montgomery, where he has worked since 2009, starting as a safety technician and quickly moving up to his current role. As a key leader at Caddell, Snider has been chosen for some of the company’s most challenging initiatives due to his intimate knowledge of every facet of a project. His leadership style and commitment to the company’s culture and accountability recently helped Caddell land a contract for the $192 million Walmart Import Facility in Ridgeville, South Carolina. Snider also plays a critical role in the community, working with local leaders on projects located around Caddell job sites. 

Lindsey Stephenson-Cook, 26

Lindsey Stephenson-Cook is a division safety trainer with United Rentals, where she has worked for five years. A graduate of Auburn University, Stephenson-Cook started with the company in a sales role before being promoted to her current position. As a division safety trainer, she is authorized and certified to train individuals on boom lifts, scissor lifts, forklifts, excavators, skid steers, backhoes, dozers, and much more. In her job she travels the state, conducting training classes at jobsites and plants. When not at work, she volunteers with Women United, the National Association of Women In Construction and Girls Can Camp. She and her husband, Yates, recently became parents of a baby boy, Hunter, and own a tree farm/nursery. 

William Bo Welden, 34

A senior project manager with Dunn Construction, Bo Welden holds a master’s degree in construction management from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, which he earned while working full time. Welden has worked for Dunn since 2012 and serves as a mentor to many within the business. Outside of work, he serves on the junior board of The Fire House Shelter, holding the office of president from 2019-2020. He also serves on the board of Turning Point Foundation and is an active member of Mountain Brook Community Church. 

Richard Whitworth, 36

Richard Whitworth is a veteran in the industry, having been part of the construction world for more than 20 years. A graduate of Faulkner State and the University of South Alabama, Whitworth started working at Whitworth Construction, the family business owned by his mother. He then worked for the Alabama Department of Transportation in the project office as a professional civil engineering trainee. He currently serves as operations manager at C & H Construction Services LLC. Throughout his years of service, Whitworth has proven to be a pragmatic and effective leader, often taking command of problem situations and handling them quickly and professionally. He has become a vital component to the culture of C & H, prepared to provide support wherever it might be needed.  

Ethan Wilkinson, 29

Ethan Wilkinson is an associate in the Birmingham office of Weinberg, Wheeler, Hudgins, Gunn & Dial and a member of their national construction team. Since joining the firm in 2020, Wilkinson has handled numerous claims for construction companies, including quality-related damages wrongly assessed against subcontractors and indemnity and
defense issues for general contractors arising from contract violations. Wilkinson also negotiates multi-use development, HUD-funded residential projects, pipeline projects and multiple subcontractor agreements. A skilled communicator, Wilkinson recently was a presenter at the 2021 RiskCon where he spoke on claims presentation and defense.
