EastEnders has aired shock exit scenes for Ruby Allen.

Louisa Lytton's character was seen being led away from the Square in handcuffs in Friday night's (September 17) episode as the Slater family got their revenge for her many lies. Soap bosses have confirmed these are Ruby's final scenes.

Ruby's husband Martin Fowler had previously discovered his wife had made false assault allegations against love rival Stacey Slater to have her locked up, and also turned in Jean over her cannabis plants.

Neither one was aware that Ruby's attempts to set up Jean were being turned around on her when Jean actually falsely implicated Ruby as her drug supplier.

In the latest episode, Ruby was stunned to find out she was pregnant, but any relief was short-lived when husband Martin confronted her over her treachery.

Ruby scrambled to come up with excuses, reasoning that her decisions were in response to Stacey stealing from her and then Jean trying to blackmail her.

It appeared Martin was softening toward his wife, though he still insisted she go to police to clear Stacey's name. Ruby refused because of her pregnancy.

All the while, Jean was giving a detailed (and false) testimony to police about the ways Ruby was supposedly running her father Johnny Allen's criminal empire.

"Ruby Allen is following in her father's footsteps," Jean assured the investigator.

Back on the Square, Ruby and Martin remained conflicted over what they could do now that they were going to be parents.

Any choice was swiftly taken out of their hands when the police arrived on their doorstep to arrest Ruby for alleged involvement in the drugs scheme.

A tearful Ruby was handcuffed and led away from the Square, while begging Martin to help her. Is this finally the comeuppance for Ruby Allen?

It was announced earlier this year that Louisa Lytton would be going on maternity leave from EastEnders. The actress has said she isn't yet sure whether she will eventually return as Ruby.

EastEnders airs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One.
