Alabama linebacker returns from suspension, is backup snapper

Alabama sophomore outside linebacker Quandarrius Robinson returned from a suspension and was in uniform for Saturday’s game at Florida.

Robinson, who played at Birmingham’s Jackson-Olin High School, had been suspended indefinitely before the season after an August three-car collision after which Robinson faced a charge of DUI.

“It was our sort of goal to suspend a guy for two games, which we did,” coach Nick Saban said Monday. “He was going through a counseling program and a lot of other things here to sort of enable him to learn from making a bad choice, bad decision that actually can put other people in danger. So we wanted to make him aware of that but also help him to grow and develop as a person.

“He’s done everything we asked him to do, so we allowed him to come back for this game.”

Robinson spent the early part of warmups with the specialists and served as the backup long snapper to Kneeland Hibbett.

“We have a couple guys on our team that can be backup long snappers. He happens to be one of them,” Saban said. “[Tight end] Major Tennison is the other one, but he was injured and out for the game, so it was good timing for us to get Q back.”
