With 1,276 COVID-19 patients in the hospital throughout Louisiana, the state has hit an eight-week low for hospitalizations. There has not been an increase in COVID hospitalizations in Louisiana since August 30.
The Louisiana Department of Health reports 3,194 total new cases today. LDH reports 728,831 total cases since the pandemic began.
The state reports 55 new deaths since Friday's update, bringing Louisiana's total lives lost during the pandemic to 13,473.
Almost 51 percent of Louisiana residents -- 2,359,420 of them -- have had at least one COVID shot.
In the past week, another 80,491 people completed their COVID vaccination series, bringing the total of Louisiana residents who have had all required COVID-19 shots to 2,068,096 -- about 44 percent of the state.
