FREMONT — A mixed-use housing and retail project that is poised to help breathe new life into downtown Fremont has landed three new merchants, including shops and a restaurant.

The new commercial sites are part of the Capitol Square mixed-use development near the corner of Capitol Avenue and State Street.

Din Ding Dumpling House, Banter Bookshop and Deka Lash beauty salon are the new retailers headed to downtown Fremont as a result of just-signed leases, said project co-developers TMG Partners and Sares Regis Group of Northern California.

“The recent leases of Din Ding, Banter Bookshop, and Deka Lash reflect the growing interest in Capitol Square and the momentum that’s building in downtown Fremont,” Mayor Lily Mei said.

The new merchants mark the second wave of leases for the project. Berkeley-based Sliver Pizzeria and RawASF, a plant-based vegan cafe, had previously signed rental deals in Capitol Square.

Din Ding Dumpling leased about 3,000 square feet while Banter Bookshop and Deka Lash each rented about 1,400 square feet.

Commercial real estate brokerages Lockehouse Retail Group, Coldwell Banker Commercial, and Newmark helped arrange the three latest leases.

“These three diverse businesses will be excellent additions to the project and gravitate people to Downtown from throughout the community,” Mayor Mei said.
