Police say a man responsible for vandalizing storefronts in Portland was taken into custody.

Police said several businesses, including David’s Restaurant in Monument Square and the Lady in the Moon Boutique, were found with damaged storefronts and broken windows on Sunday morning.

39-year-old Jimmy Burnett was charged with commercial burglary, theft, and three counts of criminal mischief.

David Turin, owner of David’s Restaurant, told the Portland Press Herald they’d have to replace a $2,500 tempered glass window and some chairs and tables out front. He tells the paper the incident was a “tragedy” and says he heard Burnett may have been experiencing a mental health crisis.
