WESH 2 welcomes Emmy Award winning journalist Luana Muñoz to team
Luana Muñoz, a two-time Emmy Award winning journalist and former resident of Lakeland will join WESH 2 News as weekend anchor at 6:00p.m. and 11:00p.m. and at 10:00p.m. on sister station WKCF/CW18. Muñoz comes to WESH 2 from KTBS 3 News in Shreveport, Louisiana, where she anchored mornings and middays. While at KTBS, she covered the Trump presidential campaign and anchored 2020 coverage of Hurricane Laura, which battered Lake Charles, Louisiana. After graduating from UCLA, Muñoz worked for CNN Español in Washington, D.C., later moving to positions in Sacramento and Bakersfield, CA, Norfolk, VA and Saint Joseph, MO, before moving to Shreveport and now landing at WESH 2. Muñoz is a bilingual journalist of Afro-Cuban and Puerto Rican descent. “I am thrilled to be a part of the WESH 2 News team,” says Muñoz. “It is great to be back in Central Florida where I was raised and look forward to spending time with family and experience what the community has to offer.” “Luana is a fantastic journalist with tremendous experiences, and we look forward to her contributions to our news team,” says Kirsten Wolff, News Director of WESH 2.
