THE OPENING KICKOFF
- The University of Texas continues its 129th season of football on Saturday when the Longhorns open Big 12 play at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium against Texas Tech.
- Saturday's matchup will mark the sixth time since 2009 that Texas opens conference play at home. The Horns are 4-1 in those instances, and 12-2 (.857) when opening Big 12 play at home.
- Texas currently boasts 925 all-time wins, the fourth-most in college football history. UT holds an all-time record of 925-379-33 (.704).
THE ALL-TIME SERIES
- Texas holds a 53-17 advantage over Texas Tech in the all-time series between the schools, and has won 10 of the last 12 matchups.
- The Longhorns overcame a 15-point deficit with just over three minutes remaining to best the Red Raiders, 63-56, in overtime in Lubbock last season.
- Texas holds the longest winning streak by either side (8 games) and the largest margin of victory (51 points) in series history.
- The matchup marks the second-straight year in which Texas opens Big 12 play against the Red Raiders and fifth time overall, with the Longhorns holding a 4-0 record ahead of Saturday's game.

Bijan Breaking Through
- Sophomore RB Bijan Robinson opened the 2021 campaign in style, earning Walter Camp Football Foundation (WCFF) National Offensive Player of the Week honors after racking up 176 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns, including 103 on the ground and a touchdown on 20 carries, along with four receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown in leading the Longhorns to an opening week win over No. 23 Louisiana.
- Over his last seven games, Robinson has totaled 821 rushing yards on 99 carries (831 ypc) with nine touchdowns, while also hauling in 14 receptions for 220 yards (15.7 ypc) and scoring three touchdowns. All told, he has 1,041 yards on 113 plays for 9.2 yards per play with 12 touchdowns.
- Robinson has scored multiple touchdowns in four of the last five games with 12 touchdowns in all.
- In the last seven games, Robinson has eclipsed 100 yards rushing five times with the Longhorns coming away victorious in all five games.
- Has rushed for one or more touchdowns in each of the last five games, scoring nine in that span.
- Surpassed 1,000 career rushing yards in the Texas' 58-0 victory over Rice, becoming the 55th Longhorn to reach the mark.
- Reached 1,000 yards on his 138th career carry, the fastest Longhorn to reach the mark since Jamaal Charles accomplished it on his 138th career carry. Vince Young was the fastest to the mark in recent UT history, reaching 1,000 rushing yards on his 136th attempt.

- Junior QB Casey Thompson is leading Texas to the end zone at an exceptional rate. In the 13 drives he has led this season the Longhorns have scored 11 times, including 10 touchdowns.
- Since entering at the beginning of the second half in last season's Valero Alamo Bowl for then-senior QB Sam Ehlinger, Thompson has guided 18 Texas drives with the Longhorns scoring on 16 of them including 14 touchdowns (seven passing and seven rushing) and two field goals.

The X-Factor
- Texas true freshman WR Xavier Worthy came up huge in the Longhorns' win over Rice, establishing career bests with six receptions, 71Â receiving yards and one touchdown reception, the first score of his career.
- Worthy's six receptions are tied for 11th-most by a freshman in a game in UT history.
- His 31-yard reception in the first quarter gave him a play of at least 25 yards in all three games this season.
- Worthy had a 34-yard reception against Louisiana and a 25-yard reception at Arkansas.
- In three games this season with two starts, Worthy has 10 receptions for 163 yards (16.3 ypc) and one touchdown. He has also returned three punts for 47 yards.
Keilan Coming Through
- Sophomore RB Keilan Robinson had an impact on special teams and in the offense in Texas' win over Rice.
- The transfer from Alabama blocked a punt in the first quarter that rolled out of the back of the end zone for a safety, the first blocked punt for a score for UT since last season's Big 12 opener against Texas Tech.
- Robinson added a career-long 65-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter that put Texas up 51-0. On the day, Robinson had five carries for 83 yards (16.6 ypc) and one touchdown.
- In three games this season, Robinson has rushed the ball 19 times for 133 yards (7.0 ypc) and scored one touchdown.
Dynamic DeMarvion
- Senior LB DeMarvion Overshown has played in 30 games and made 15 starts during his collegiate career.Â
- In UT's season-opening win over Louisiana, Overshown registered a career-best 13 tackles (4 solo), while also picking up a half sack for a loss of four yards.
- He has registered 104 tackles (560 solo), 16.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, 10 pass breakups, three interceptions, three forced fumbles and one recovered in his career.
- He collected a team-high eight tackles against Arkansas, the second-straight game in which he has led the team in tackles.
- Overshown recorded 21 tackles in the first two games of the season, the most tackles for a Longhorn in the first two contests of the season since Cedric Reed had 24 in 2013.
