ROCHESTER — Two women were displaced by a quick-moving fire early Monday.

Assistant Chief Tim Wilder said the fire, at 149 Charles St. came in at 12:34 a.m.

"This was a first alarm fire at a single-family, two-level home," Wilder said. "When the first crew arrived, they found heavy fire in the area of the farmer's porch, which had spread to the first floor through the windows."

Wilder said that due to the quick attack by fire crews, the blaze was quickly contained. He added the home was in a hydrant district, making for easy access to water.

"The two female residents got out safely," Wilder said. "There were no injuries, to them or to any firefighter."

Wilder said the home is uninhabitable.

"The women were met by family members, who they went home with," he said. "I have not heard of any fundraiser set up for them yet."
