Jarret Doege against Texas Tech

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The WVU Football team has yet to play under the lights at Milan Puskar Stadium this season, and that drought is set to continue. The Week 5 matchup between the Mountaineers and Texas Tech Red Raiders will be televised on ESPN2 at 3:30 p.m EST. West Virginia (2-1), will face an undefeated Oklahoma Sooners team in Norman before coming home for this game. The undefeated Red Raiders will be coming off a game in Austin against the Texas Longhorns.

WVU leads Texas Tech in the series 6-4, and last season’s 34-27 Mountaineer loss in Lubbock will hopefully fuel this Mountaineer team to turn the tides. In preseason, I predicted a Mountaineer W, but fixing the problems that the Sooner offense and defense will expose the week prior will be crucial to breaking the two-year losing streak.

Texas Tech is also WVU’s Homecoming and the 2021 Stripe The Stadium game.

Mountaineer legend and College Football Hall of Famer Darryl Talley will have his No. 90 retired during an on-field presentation during the game.

Fans sitting in even-numbered sections (Sec. 102, 104, 202, 204, etc.), Touchdown Terrace, and WVU students seated in the upper level student sections are encouraged to wear gold to the game.

Fans sitting in odd-numbered sections (Sec. 101, 103, 201, 203, etc.) and WVU students seated in the lower level student sections are encouraged to wear blue to the game.
