GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A Grand Island man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries following an altercation over the weekend.

According to Grand Island Police, the incident happened Saturday night in the 300 block of West 3rd Street.

Police said Jimmy Barrientes, 33, and Adam Miller, 37, both of Grand Island, were involved in a mutual altercation.

According to police, Barrientes struck Miller in the face causing him to blackout and fall to the ground. Police said the fall caused Miller a cranial hemorrhage upon impact.

Multiple witnesses told police that Miller initiated the altercation.

Miller was taken to CHI Health St. Francis where he was treated then transferred to CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy in Omaha. As of Monday morning, he was listed as stable.

Barrientes was arrested for first degree assault. Police said Miller has been referred for 3rd degree assault charges.
