Lincoln Police were called to the 900 block of S 11th Street around 1:oo Sunday afternoon to investigate a disturbance. Neighbors had reported a man laying in the grass yelling threats and profanities at people.
Police spoke with 53 year old Victor Hernandez who refused to leave. When officers attempted to take him into custody, Hernandez refused and resisted. Hernandez hit one of the officers in the face. After a long struggle, officers took Hernandez into custody.
Hernandez was taken to a hospital to be evaluated for an unrelated health issue. He continued to be combative and attempted to kick officers. When medically cleared, Hernandez was booked for assault on a police officer, attempted assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and disturbing the peace.
The injured officer did not require medical treatment.
