Elon Musk tweets Biden is ‘sleeping’ following successful SpaceX launch

.

SpaceX CEO and notorious Twitter troll Elon Musk jokingly accused President Joe Biden of “sleeping” after a follower noticed the president failed to acknowledge the efforts made by four civilian astronauts who raised money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The SpaceX Dragon capsule’s two men and two women launched into space Wednesday and returned to Earth Saturday following three days in orbit. Musk helped raise more than $200 million for St. Jude from the all-civilian SpaceX mission and was even congratulated by rival space voyager Jeff Bezos. However, the president did not appear publicly to acknowledge the successful mission.

“The President of the United States has refused to even acknowledge the 4 newest American astronauts who helped raise hundreds of millions of dollars for St. Jude,” one user tweeted at Musk, receiving more than 11,000 likes. “What’s your theory on why that is?”

“He’s still sleeping,” Musk quipped, referencing former President Donald Trump’s repeated nickname for Biden, “Sleepy Joe,” which became a popular refrain during the 2020 election cycle.

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson also congratulated Musk on the achievement. Aside from being the first unskilled astronaut crew to launch to space, the crew included the youngest American to become an astronaut, the first black woman to serve as a spacecraft pilot, and the first person to fly in space with a prosthesis.
