SOUTHBOROUGH — Police are searching for a motorist who crashed into a Route 9 motel, then drove away.

The incident occurred at 11:58 p.m. Thursday at the Red Roof Inn on Turnpike Road, according to a press release.

The driver, who has not been identified, jumped a curb in a parking spot and smashed into the front wall of a guest room at the motel. The driver then backed the car out and drove off, police said.

Southborough police said a hit-and-run driver crashed into the Red Roof Inn, causing damage to one of the guest rooms.

The crash damaged the exterior wall of the motel, as well as the wall of the room. No one inside the room was injured, police said in the release.

Anyone with information about the crash can contact the Southborough Police at 508-485-2121.

Thursday’s crash was not the only one in town involving a vehicle striking a building.

At 6:08 a.m. Sunday, a Marlborough man lost control of his car and drove off the road and struck the side of 140 Marlborough Road, according to the release. No one was injured.

The man will be summoned to court and charged with driving without a license and driving to endanger. He was also cited for a marked-lanes violation.
