Marvel fans would really love to see Vincent D'Onofrio reprise his role as Kingpin in the MCU. He was so freakin’ good as the character in the Daredevil series, and it would be amazing to see him face off with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

The actor recently made a comment on Twitter that suggested he might be taking on the role again in one of Marvel’s various Disney+ projects, the fans latched on and ran with it like it was actually happening. In reality, the actor wasn’t hinting at anything. He was just making idle commentary, so he took to twitter again to set the record straight:

“Silly to look deeper into the little pieces I write. I've been writing them for years now. Although I appreciate the fandom. Because I loved playing him in @daredevil.”

You can read the tweet below:

So what is it that sent Marvel fans into a frenzy over D'Onofrio and his possible return to Kingpin?

Well, not long after the trailer for Hawkeye dropped, D’Onofrio sent out a tweet about a three-legged dog and MCU fans tied that to Hawkeye’s Lucky the Pizza Dog, which is ridiculous. D’Onofrio also liked a tweet saying "The King returns in Hawkeye," "Timing. Confirmed," and "Can’t wait to see you King."

But, liking a Tweet means nothing. Anyway, of course, it would be amazing to see D'Onofrio back as Kingpin, but as of right now there are no plans for him to return to the MCU.
