BOSTON — A 35-year-old Waltham man was killed Sunday afternoon after his motorcycle crashed on Soldiers Field Road in Boston, according to state police.

In a press release, state police said troopers from the Boston Barracks responded at 2:43 p.m. to reports of a crash involving a motorcycle on Soldiers Field Road.

Police said a preliminary investigation indicates that Sarhad Karageuzian, 35, of Waltham, was driving a 2002 Suzuki GSXR motorcycle on Soldiers Field Road westbound in Boston. At some point, police say the motorcycle struck a guardrail on the left side and crashed, ejecting Karageuzian.

Police said speed is believed to be a contributing factor. No other vehicle was involved.

Karageuzian was determined to be dead at the scene.

The westbound side of Soldiers Field Road was closed for approximately two and a half hours.

The crash remains under investigation.
