Metro Transit will now be accepting the contactless payment option called Umo, according to a press release from Metro.
Umo will allow riders to pay using the mobile app or with a smart card, said the press release.
Umo accounts will be cloud based, so if a card is lost or stolen, a new card can be issued easily, said the press release.
When paying with Umo, riders will hold up either their phone or smart card to the newly installed Umo readers, said the press release.
The payment will then be deducted, said the press release.
ORBT will start charging riders on Friday, October 1, and the fare price is $1.25 per rider and 25 cents for transfers, said the press release.
All other payment options will still be available to riders, said the press release.
