Kiermaier (illness) entered Sunday's loss to the Tigers as a pinch runner for Nelson Cruz in the bottom of the eighth inning but did not log a plate appearance.
Kiermaier was activated earlier Sunday after a one-day stay on the COVID-19 injured list, with the green light coming as a result of the outfielder never testing positive for the virus. The fact Kiermaier was experiencing some virus-like symptoms is what saddled him briefly with that designation, but he was apparently feeling well enough Sunday to be available off the bench. However, with southpaw Robbie Ray scheduled to take the hill for the Blue Jays on Monday, the left-handed-hitting Kiermaier's return to the starting lineup may not occur until Tuesday at the earliest.
