On the verge of losing their second game in a row to start the 2021 NFL season, the Tennessee Titans found their groove in the fourth quarter of their Week 2 game against the Seattle Seahawks on the road to force overtime and eventually score a 33-30 victory. If that game could be summed up in two words, it's this: Derrick Henry.
The Titans' running back bulldozed his way through Seattle's defense, finishing with 182 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 35 carries. Two of those touchdowns were scored in the final period. After the game, Henry let his emotions out a bit, as he sent a message to Tennessee detractors, via ESPN.
“I don't think anyone expected us to come here and get a ‘W,'” Henry said. “I knew if we stuck together, trust in what we preach and what coach preaches, play the way we practice, it would eventually come together for us.”
There was simply nothing Seattle could do to slow down Henry when he started to get going. To be fair to the Seahawks, no one has really quite figured out how to put the clamps on the former Alabama Crimson Tide tailback. Henry has rushed for at least 1,000 yards each of the last two seasons.
What's making it more difficult for opposing defenses is the presence of the wideout tandem of Julio Jones and A.J. Brown that almost unfairly stretches the field for Henry.
Henry and the Titans will look to sustain their momentum in Week 3 against the Indianapolis Colts at home.
