Pat Vero said that her personal philosophy is to treat others with respect and kindness and approach businesses and community with an open mind. It is that philosophy she’s bringing into her new position.

Vero has been announced as the new executive director of the Erie Chamber of Commerce.

Following a 13-year tenure from former executive director Elle Cabbage, Vero said she’s ready to build upon Cabbage’s legacy.

“I have been doing events on a personal and professional level most of my life,” Vero wrote in an email. “When the executive director position became available, I was excited.

“In the growing town of Erie, I have this wonderful opportunity to support the businesses and community as they excel and thrive.”

Vero formerly served with the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce for the last 12 years. Starting as the chamber’s membership coordinator and leaving as the director of events and marketing, Vero said her previous experience has provided her with a well-rounded basis to proceed at the Erie Chamber.

She also served as PTO President at Lafayette Elementary School and fundraised for the school and children’s sports programs.

“Pat was instrumental in making our events bigger and better in her 12 years here at the Lafayette Chamber,” executive director at the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce Vicki Trumbo wrote in an email. “She inherited Peach and Oatmeal but helped create the Lafayette Brew Fest and July 4th events, which have now become very successful, too.

“She will be a great addition to the Erie Chamber and community, and we wish her all the best in her new endeavor.”

“I look forward to meeting all the business owners and community and to work with them as this community continues to grow,” Vero wrote.
