Two felons are in jail after a traffic stop in Bainbridge Wednesday.
Just after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15th, Bainbridge Public Safety Officer Toby Miller of the Criminal Enforcement Division, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Jontavious Rondale Smith.
A passenger in the vehicle, identified as Robert Lenoris Smith, brother of Jontavious, was found to have active felony arrest warrants for probation violation – involuntary manslaughter; obstruction of an officer; possession with intent to distribute or manufacture a controlled substance; manufacturing, distributing, dispensing, and possessing counterfeit substance near housing projects.
Police say that a probable cause search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a semi-automatic Springfield Arms 9MM Hellcat handgun which belonged to Jontavious, also a convicted felon.
Robert Lenoris Smith was transported to the Decatur County Jail for his outstanding arrest warrants.
Jontavius Rondale Smith was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
