Friday ‘Battle’ Results Announced

Frewsburg Central School’s Heather Barber and Lisa Burns won the Large Division Scrabble in the Battle of the Businesses on Friday.

After Friday’s evening’s Scrabble tournament, Texas Hold’em poker game, pickleball and soccer Shoot’n Score at the Lakewood YMCA, Falconer Central Schools and Frewsburg Central School (Large Division) are tied for first place with points while Jamestown Bar Association/City Clerk (Small Division) leads the way in the YMCA’s 33rd annual Battle of the Businesses.

Falconer and Frewsburg point count is 1,245 and JBA/City Court tallied an 1,110 point total going into the last day events tomorrow.

Frewsburg’s Heather Barber and Lisa Burns had the highest score in the final round of the Scrabble event for the large division followed by Chautauqua County Government and Bush Industries.

In the small division Scrabble event, Rehabilitation Specialists/CES’s Laurie Marrucci and Sarah Chambers were the word-placing champions. Second place went to JBA while Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care scored in third place.

TitanX’s Danilo DelNero and Greg Nowak collected the large division 100 event points followed by Bush Industries and Chautauqua County Government in the Texas Hold’em poker game.

In the small division poker tournament, JBA’s Mike Panebianco and Tom Rankin tabled first place. Rand and Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union/Trinity Biotech placed second and third, respectively.

Pickleball court action was led by large division competitor Frewsburg and small division victor GCFCU/Trinity Biotech. Second and third places were given to Falconer and The Resource Center (large division) and GA Family Services and JBA (small division), respectively.

In the Soccer Shoot’n Score competition, large division TitanX Engine Cooling (Joshua Morris, Bruno Jouannet and Ben Anderson) scored the highest number of points to capture the win against second place finisher Bush Industries. Frewsburg placed third.

For the small division soccer event, the winning team was JBA (Todd Thomas, Kristin Lee Yaw and Jordan Humphreys) while Rand Precision Machining seized second place and GA Family Services at Lutheran scored the third place points.

The last day Battle of the Businesses overall results and Corporate Cup winners will be announced soon.

The Battle is hosted by the Jamestown Area YMCA and sponsored by BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York, GCFCU and Eventz by Scott.
