ROCKFORD — Looking for a career change? There are still plenty of job opportunities at some of the area’s largest employers.

Amazon

Amazon plans on hiring workers to fill dozens of openings at its fulfillment center, 4650 Shepherd Trail.

The facility is located at the former Bon-Ton distribution center and is scheduled to open Oct. 10.

Amazon is also hiring warehouse workers for its new delivery station in the Rock 39 Industrial Park on Baxter Road.

The e-commerce giant is building a 141,000-square-foot facility just east of the Shell truck stop and Maggio Truck Center.

The Amazon facility is expected to open in mid-2022.

Hard Rock

There are also jobs opportunities at Hard Rock’s soon-to-open temporary casino at the former location of Giovanni's Restaurant & Convention Center, 610 N. Bell School Road.

Available positions include cashiers, shift managers, security officers, cooks, servers, bartenders, marketing managers and marketing coordinators.

“We’re very eager to get the ball rolling on the temporary casino, but the magic of our operations really begins with the people we recruit," Hard Rock International Chief Operating Officer Jon Lucas said in a news release. “No matter the role, our team is committed to recruiting a diverse workforce with a strong local presence and preparing them to have a successful career in the gaming industry.”

The temporary casino could operate for two years while the permanent, $311 million Hard Rock Casino Rockford is under construction. That project must still obtain further permission before construction can begin at the entrance to Interstate 90 and East State Street at the former location of the Clock Tower Resort.
