Chelsea And Liverpool Reignite Transfer Interest In 'Excellent' Bayern Munich Star Amid Potential Exit From Club

Chelsea and Liverpool have been put on red alert after Bayern Munich’s former sporting director has backed Kingsley Coman to leave the Bundesliga club.

Coman attracted interest from both Chelsea and Liverpool in the summer, but Bayern remained firm with their reported £86m asking price.

The 25-year-old French winger is under contract with Bayern until 2023, but Coman could be tempted to leave the German club next summer.

Coman, who has won a league title in every season of his club career, recently underwent heart surgery after the discovery of an irregularity.

Former Bayern sporting director Christian Nerlinger has tipped the France international to leave Munich, saying his former club will “consider selling him.”

He told BILD TV (as per The Daily Mirror): “I don't think he will stay in Munich. Bayern had a recent tendency to lose players for free.

“But you can't do that in the long run, you have to sell players from time to time if the offer is right.

“Coman is an excellent player, but given the situation, I think Bayern will consider selling him.”

Coman came through the Paris Saint-Germain youth academy and lifted two Ligue 1 titles and the Trophee des Champions before signing for Juventus in 2014.

The Bayern star captured two Serie A titles, a Coppa Italia and Italian Super Cup during his time in Turin.

Bayern landed Coman on a two-year loan from Juventus in 2015, with the option to make the move permanent in 2017.

Coman’s last appearance for Bayern came last Tuesday as he came off the bench in his side’s 3-0 win over Barcelona at the Camp Nou in the Champions League.

The Chelsea and Liverpool target is expected to spend 10 days to two weeks recovering from his minor operation.

Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann said: “He had a slightly irregular heartbeat, a minor heart irregularity. We did a long-term ECG and carried out this operation.

“He's doing very well and he has little wound pain. Once the wound is healed then he will be able to start with rehab training and it won't be more than 10 days to two weeks before he's back in full training.”
