Jonas Brothers, apple festivals, Brian Regan and more: Things to do this week, from comedy to concerts

There’s plenty of entertainment options coming our way. So if you’re looking for a fun way to spend some time this week, here are a few upcoming events you can enjoy.

Keep in mind that many entertainment venues now require proof of vaccination from COVID-19, or a negative COVID-19 test taken within 48 or 72 hours of the event, prior to admission. This is in addition to any rules regarding masks. Always check on a venue or event’s requirements before attending.

Several are part of the Harrisburg University Tech & Town Week, which included the HUE invitational esports tournament. But here’s a quick rundown of the other events and activities connected to Tech & Town Week:

Trivia Night

6–7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22 at Harrisburg University Library, 326 Market Street, Harrisburg

Competitors can play solo or in teams of up to five. Register online here.

Cage the Elephant

7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23 at Riverfront Park, 200 S. Front Street, Harrisburg

Dawes

7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24 at XL Live, 801 S. 10th Street, Harrisburg

The folk rock band is best known for songs like “A Little Bit of Everything,” “All Your Favorite Bands,” “When My Time Comes” and “Things Happen.” Tickets are $45, and more info can be found here.

Portugal. The Man

7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 at Riverfront Park, 200 S. Front Street, Harrisburg

Portugal. The Man will play their hits such as “Feel It Still,” “Purple Yellow Red and Blue,” “Live in the Moment” and “Modern Jesus” at the Harrisburg riverfront. Tickets are $55. Get more info here.

7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24 at Hersheypark Stadium, 100 West Hersheypark Drive, Hershey

TMI Improv

7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24 at Gamut Theatre, 15 N. Fourth Street, Harrisburg

The actors of TMI Improv are Gamut Theatre’s home improv comedy team, and will come up with both short scenes and long-form improv games based on audience suggestions. Gamut Theatre’s bar opens 45 minutes before the show starts. Click here for the Facebook event page.

35th Annual Apple Festival

9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 at New Cumberland Borough Park, 517 Front Street, New Cumberland

The park will be filled with music, food, crafts and contests for all visitors. And as you might expect, there will be an emphasis on apples. Get more details at the event’s Facebook page.

Brian Regan

7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 at Appell Center for the Performing Arts, 50 N. George Street, York

Comedian Brian Regan is one of the most popular stand-up acts performing today - according to Entertainment Weekly, he is “your favorite comedian’s favorite comedian.” Tickets start at $53.19. Get more details at the Appell Center’s website.
