New Star Wars Game In Production At 'Heavy Rain' Studio

Quantic Dream, the developer of branching story titles like Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls and Detroit: Become Human, is allegedly working on a new Star Wars game.
After the expiration of Electronic Arts' license to create Star Wars games, Lucasfilm brought back Lucasfilm Games and the galaxy far far away has gotten even bigger. Ubisoft is developing an "original and unforgettable" Star Wars game in the Snowdrop Engine, maintaining that it will be "something totally different from what we have done in the past."
And, recently, Knights Of The Old Republic was revealed to be on its way to PlayStation 5 with some of the original team members returning to the game. It's a very good time to be a Star Wars fan, given the enormous potential of different studios taking the space opera for a spin. In fact, a year ago, Disney's senior vice president of games and interactive experiences Sean Shoptaw arrived at a conference with other developers to say, "I'm here for one specific reason: to empower you to do really unique things with our [catalog]."

I suppose a new Star Wars game from Quantic Dream is a "really unique thing" that I personally didn't see coming - although, the studio did promise a "big surprise" a while back. The French studio is known for its games that mimic movies with divergent storylines, which is a world away from things like Star Wars Squadrons, Fallen Order, the Battlefront series and so on.
This tidbit comes from Tom Henderson, who has a considerably accurate track record when it comes to lifting the lid on live service games. Apparently, as Quantic Dream's agreement with Sony has concluded, the studio looked for new partners to work with and it found success with Disney. Furthermore, Quantic Dream's official Twitter account liked a Tweet covering the rumour of a new Star Wars game but that's been hastily disappeared.
This game has been cooking for about 18 months, claims Henderson, but that's not necessarily indicative that we're about to receive a reveal any time soon. That period could include negotiations and discussions between the two parties before the project could be greenlit. As a result, we can't say for certain, but a slower-paced story-centric Star Wars game would open up the series to a lot of new players who aren't that interested in the pew-pew-bang-explosion side of the galaxy.
