After an impressive start this season, Jesse Lingard has proven Manchester United that the club made the right decision to keep him on its squad.
From falling down the pecking order to eventually being loaned out to West Ham United, Manchester United attacking midfielder Jesse Lingard has now resurged.
It goes without showing that Cristiano Ronaldo is still the center of attention, having lived up the hype of his sterling Manchester United return. However, Lingard has also thrown his name in the conversation after delivering a productive start in the club’s current campaign.
In his first four games for Manchester United, Lingard has already registered two goals to his name and is seemingly becoming the third star of the club.
The Englishman’s latest work of art was a sensational game-winning goal in the dying minutes of Manchester United’s recent win over West Ham.
Looking at the trajectory of Lingard’s return to his parent club, it is becoming more and more apparent that a loan spell is unlikely to be considered in the future.
In fact, reputable transfer insider Fabrizio Romano revealed that Manchester United has already been “in direct contact” with Lingard “and his father” for weeks now, hoping to extend his stay at the club.

Indeed, things have been completely different now for Lingard at Manchester United. Prior to his remarkable start, rumors swirled that the 28-year-old is open to the idea of staying with his former loaning club West Ham as he seeks to be handed regular minutes, something Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has failed to give him in the past.
Fortunately for Manchester United, West Ham didn’t make a push for a permanent transfer move for Lingard as Hammers boss David Moyes knew early on that Solskjaer has plans for the prolific attacker.
According to Moyes, despite making his mark on West Ham late last season, Lingard was never meant to stay as Solskjaer himself “made it clear” that Manchester United will keep him.
“Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] made it clear to me quite early in the transfer window that he wanted to keep him,” Moyes said of Lingard’s situation. “So I knew pretty early in the transfer window that he was staying at Manchester United. I had a private conversation with Ole who made it clear that he was staying.”
“I can't talk about players from other clubs because that's not really the way we do it,” he added. “But because Jesse was part of our club for a wee while all I can say is that he made a massive contribution to the team, both on the pitch and off the pitch. We really enjoyed having him. I hope in many ways Jesse will look at the time and how well the players treated him and made him welcome that Jesse would look at that as well, so it may change.”
“He was great for us, but simply the manager told me that he was keeping them in, and when that happens I believe the manager and that's the way it went.”
