CANYON, Texas – The SWOSU Soccer team traveled out to West Texas for a rare Sunday game and couldn't find a breakthrough. The Bulldogs lose a defensive battle with West Texas A&M 1-0.
Â
The play by Freshman goalkeeper
Ashley Hughes remains a pivotal reason why the Bulldogs find themselves competing late in games. This is the third game this season that she has provided at least eight saves, as she made eight saves only allowing the one goal on 22 total shots from the Lady Buffs.
Â
Bulldog defenders
Nicole Petrino,
Elizabeth Moreno, and
Desiree Rodriguez played all 90 minutes of the match, working hard to make sure the Lady Buffs couldn't get anything easy.
Â
Brenna McGuirk and
Anna Bager led the Dawgs in shots in the game with two a piece, but the team will need to find a way to get more shots on goal going forward. They combined for only four, while committing six fouls in the game.
Â
The Bulldogs will have the next week off before they begin conference play against Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva on Tuesday, September 28.
