Cedric, 57, came to the awards shows prepared with plenty of jokes and sketches, though many did not land.
Twitter was filled with criticisms of Cedric the Entertainer’s hosting role.
One person wrote: “Yo. Cedric is bombing right now.”
Another added: “I love Cedric but CBS promos ‘disguised’ as skits are painful to watch. Just bad.”
A third chimed in: “Cedric is sinking faster than the Titanic.”
The backlash continued as a following Emmys viewer added: “I don’t find Cedric that entertaining….”
One viewer said Cedric’s “jokes are lacking jokes,” while another commented: “Cedric is not a good host.”
An additional viewer noted: “Cedric’s jokes ain’t landing…”
A number of viewers weren’t impressed by the host’s monologue, which took place nearly 20 minutes into the awards show.
One fan commented: “What is this ‘Tonight Show’ monologue type humor? What happened to edgy comedy for these awards show segments.”
Another added: “Cedric… you did a musical number as your opener and now you also want to do a monologue?”
“Cedric the Entertainer is neither funny nor entertaining,” a following person wrote.
Cedric wasn’t the only one to blame for the show’s lack of humor.
One person wondered why awards shows even have hosts anymore, writing: “Whyyyyyyyyyyy do these shows still have hosts? Ugh.”
Others blamed CBS, which exclusively aired the awards show alongside Paramount+.
“This is why CBS is laughed at and seen as the Boomer network,” Another viewer commented.
Others wondered if Cedric was hired as the host due to his work on the network, as one person tweeted: “Cedric is hosting because he has a show on CBS, right? Because this set is…hm.”
The comedian currently stars on the network’s comedy The Neighborhood.

I liked Ced the Entertainer as host of the Emmys.. I was refreshing to not have all of the political pontificating, just entertainment. Also, liked Rogan. Debbie Allen was best recipient.

I love Cedric but he wasn't funny at all.
Thought it was one of the better awsrd shows lately. Golden Globes and Oscars have been a dead bore the late 2 years.
I really enjoyed Ced as the host!!! His skit with his TV wives was hysterical funny.. I also thought he looked the part as the Emmy host with his change of outfits.
I have to agree with Monica and Po. I loved the opening musical number. Having the audience interact was fun looked like they enjoyed it also. Some of the skits were not as funny as others but the show was not boring and starchy as it normally is.
Cedrick was very entertaining.Not boring like other host.A breath of fresh air.

I liked Ced as a host at the show I especially liked the joke about Nicky Manaj, I thought he was funny. Well there you go everyone didn't think that he bombed, different strokes for different folks...
I never watch these long over the top shows
He was great! Were the nasty comments because he wasn't political? All nasty comments because he didn't bully specific politicians/party's as in previous shows? Just wondering. He was refreshing after all the previous politicized shows!
