DC and Spotify have cast The Morning Show star Hasan Minhaj as one of the most notorious super-villains from Crime Alley.
The streaming audio service is teaming up with Warner Bros/DC on Batman Unburied, a narrative podcast that will feature Black Panther star Winston Duke as the Caped Crusader.
In the podcast, Bruce Wayne is working at Gotham Hospital as a forensic pathologist examining victims of a new serial killer known as The Harvester.
In his attempts to cleanse Gotham City's mean streets, Batman will also face off with one of his most puzzling foes – The Riddler, to be played here by Minhaj (via The Wrap).
Minhaj is primarily a comedian best known for hosting political comedy series Patriot Act and serving as a contributor to The Daily Show. Batman Unburied is considerably darker content for him.
He joins the pantheon of famous names who have played Edward Nygma / The Riddler, including Frank Gorshin in the 1960s Batman show, Jim Carrey in Batman Forever and soon Paul Dano in The Batman.
Other cast members for Batman Unburied include Lance Reddick (Lost) and Toks Olagundoye (Castle) as Thomas and Martha Wayne, Ashly Burch (Mythic Quest) as Bruce's ex-girlfriend Vicki Vale, John Rhys-Davies (Indiana Jones) as Dr. Hunter and Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter) as butler Alfred Pennyworth.
Other classic villains are expected to appear in Batman Unburied beyond The Riddler. Spotify has yet to announce a release date yet for the project.
However, the streamer has confirmed it will debut the comedy podcast Batman: The Audio Adventures on Saturday (September 18) to celebrate Batman Day.
Jeffrey Wright, who will play Commissioner Gordon in The Batman, actually dons the cowl as Bruce Wayne in a series described by Warner Bros as a "rollicking, over-the-top Batman adventure".
Batman: The Audio Adventures will also feature Rosario Dawson as Catwoman and John Leguizamo as The Riddler. Fans will definitely be getting plenty of riddles in audio form!
The Batman has a release date of March 4, 2022.
