The Detroit Tigers placed All-Star reliever Gregory Soto and outfielder Derek Hill on the 10-day injured list on Sunday.
Soto has a fractured ring finger on his left (pitching) hand and Hill has a sprained left knee. Both are expected to miss the rest of the season, which ends on Oct. 3.
Soto, 26, was struck in the hand by a comebacker in the ninth inning of Friday’s 7-4 loss at Tampa Bay. The 2021 All-Star finishes with a 6-3 record, 18 saves and a 3.39 ERA in 62 appearances.
Hill, 25, collided with Rays first baseman Ji-Man Choi at first base in the fifth inning of Saturday’s 4-3 victory and he left the field in a wheelchair. He batted .259 with three homers and 14 RBIs in 49 games this season.
In corresponding moves, Detroit recalled outfielder Daz Cameron and infielder Isaac Paredes from Triple-A Toledo ahead of Sunday’s series finale in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Cameron, 24, is hitting .177 with three homers and 11 RBIs in 25 games with the Tigers in 2021, while the 22-year-old Paredes owns a .256 average with one home run and four RBIs in 14 contests.
