Carmelo Anthony may no longer be the superstar he once was at this point in his career, but his presence on the Los Angeles Lakers may prove to be invaluable.

In the latest episode of Million Dollaz Worth Of Game podcast, Melo recently dished on the fated phone call between him and LeBron James to get him on the Lakers. King James didn't need to sugarcoat things in telling his longtime best friend he wanted him in LA.

“He did,” said the Lakers star on whether LeBron James called him directly. “It was a real call, though. It wasn't like no B.S. I wasn't expecting it from him. I mean we talked about it years before about getting together with each other, but now I heard it.

‘Yo, I need you.' Say less. You ain't gotta say nothing. You hit me direct. The Lakers GM ain't hit me. You the GM. ‘Yo champ, the time is now. The time is now.'”

When you've both been in the NBA for nearly two decades, there isn't any need for frivolities. LeBron James knows Carmelo Anthony can still score with the best of them and that the Lakers needed more firepower if they wanted to come back with a vengeance next season. Le-GM made things happen.
