It's one thing when a makeup product takes over TikTok, but it's an entirely different story when it makes its way to the red carpet for the full star treatment. That's exactly what happened at the 2022 Emmys when award nominee Issa Rae stepped onto the red carpet in all her glowy skin glory wearing the viral E.l.f. Cosmetics Halo Glow Liquid Filter ($14).

Celebrity makeup artist Joanna Simkin is the mastermind behind the makeup look, and while she said on Instagram stories that the Halo Glow was the "star of the show," she also used a handful of other products from one of our favorite drugstore beauty brands — all of which are under $15. First, she prepped Rae's skin with the brand-new E.l.f. C-Bright Putty Primer ($12) before layering on the complexion booster. Then, she created a smoky eye and diffused cat eye using the E.l.f. Bite Sized Eyeshadow ($3) in the shade "Truffles" before finishing off the look with a few swipes of the E.l.f. Srsly Satin Lipstick ($2, originally $3) in the shade "Coco."

"This Emmys, I pulled inspiration from Issa's Sergio Hudson Gown," Simkin tells POPSUGAR. "The color, fit, and style immediately took me to a place of beauty and strength. A powerful black diffused cat eye and immaculately glowing skin came together to create this empowered look that is undeniably Issa."

While only time will tell if she will take home the award for her work in "Insecure," the real win is knowing you don't have to spend an arm and a leg to get good makeup. Get a closer look at Rae's Emmys drugstore beauty look ahead.
