Season 30 of Dancing With the Stars is almost here, but some folks aren’t sure if they’ll tune in for the ABC competition show this year.
Ahead of the milestone season, DWTS announced its complete 2021 cast on September 8, which includes celebrities like The Talk cohost Amanda Kloots, Bling Empire star Christine Chiu, Olympic gold medal gymnast Suni Lee and NBA star Iman Shumpert, among others. Later the same day that the roster was revealed, the show posted its first promo on Instagram and Twitter, and fans weren’t thrilled with what they saw.
In a 30-second video, host Tyra Banks is glammed up in a plum purple dress and a statement headpiece. “It doesn’t take a fortune teller to know that the new cast of Dancing will blow you away,” she declared while holding an animated disco ball. The former 47-year-old supermodel then formally shared this year's Dancing With the Stars cast.
While many fans got excited after seeing the promo, others expressed disappointment and frustration. From what we gather, many still aren't over the fact that former cohosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews were let go from the show last summer. Tyra was then named the show’s first solo host and given an executive producer role.
“Bring Tom & Erin back .. they made a great team !!!,” one person wrote. “Why does Tara [sic.] think that she has to change her gowns so many times..the shows not about her it’s about the dancers..sad!,” another added.
Other fans shared a similar sentiment on another promo featuring a photo of Tyra. In it, she looks directly at the camera while striking a pose. “Look, I did not enjoy last season. I don't know most of the so-called stars. I really REALLY miss Tom and Erin. And I did not take to Tyra at all. The show does not work for me and I've watched every single episode since day 1. Very sad,” a follower commented.
That said, there are still plenty of viewers excited to watch the new season. The season 30 premiere of Dancing With the Stars will finally reveal which pro dancers and celebrities are paired up together. And then the competition will really start heating up.
