The winner of the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series has been announced at the Emmys 2021. But before we get into the award winner, we’re going to highlight who was the favorite and discuss some of the nominees.

Like many of the categories at the Emmy Awards tonight, this category had a lot of fantastic contenders. Kathryn Hahn, Jean Smart and Julianne Nicholson all had people betting on them to win tonight.

Hahn’s scene-stealing performance as Agatha Harkness in the Disney+ breakout WandaVision helps elevate her star to even further heights, and who could forget the memes she produced? She even got a catchy theme song of her own with “Agatha All Along.”

But Mare of Easttown was another huge smash this year for HBO, and Smart and Nicholson were a big part of that. Plus, Smart is double-nominated tonight for the drama and the HBO Max series Hacks.

Then there is Mose Ingram, nominated for The Queen’s Gambit. Her nomination was somewhat surprising, but it should help her during Oscar season as she is slated to appear in the upcoming Joel Coen film. Renée Elise Goldsberry and Phillipa Soo also scored nominations for their performances in Hamilton.

Julianne Nicholson has won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series, for Mare of Easttown where she delivered a phenomenal and heart-wrenching performance as Lori Ross. It was a hard category but Nicholson is such a great actress that she deserved it, especially after being snubbed for years of excellent work in Masters of Sex and Boardwalk Empire.

Nicholson’s co-star Evan Peters won for Supporting Actor in a Limited Series and Kate Winslet won for Lead Actress. If you haven’t watched Mare of Easttown yet, you can stream it right now at HBO Max and check out her performance for yourself.
